Vietnam has a very easy visa process that actually seems complicated, made worse by the tonnes of conflicting information available online. While applying for the Vietnam Visa you do not have to visit any consulate or embassy physically, all steps before you fly out of India can be completed online without a fuss.
This guide is designed for the 1 month single entry tourist visa, this is the most common type of visa and is applicable if you are visiting Vietnam for tourism and leisure purpose on a holiday. This guide is updated as of Feb 2018
Step 1
VISA APPROVAL LETTER
This in an online process, you need to visit any online web-service that facilitates providing you with a visa approval letter. There are a lot of services available with price ranging from INR 500 to 1500 with very marginal or no difference in processing speed. One of the services we have used before is given in the button below, this one charges approximately INR 500.
Step 2
PREPARE DOCUMENTS
You usually receive the visa approval letter within 4-5 days. Make sure you carefully verify your details & information on the visa letter as soon as you receive it. Now it’s time to start collecting some basic yet mandatory documents that you will need to carry when you get your visa stamped during your entry into Vietnam. Follow the given checklist and you are sorted :
1. Print visa approval letter (even black & white works well).
2. Prepare 02 passport-sized photos (White background and size of 4 x 6 cm)
3. Download entry and exit form to fill your information. This is an optional step. This will save you time when you reach Vietnam, copies of these forms are available free of cost at all entry points of Vietnam.
Step 3
VISA STAMP
Once you have completed everything in step 1 & 2 like a boss this one is going to be super easy. If you are familiar with visa on arrival various countries offer this is very similar to that. Once you arrive in Vietnam you will be guided to the immigration counters by the airport staff, at the immigration counter present all your documentation (step 1 & 2), pay the applicable stamp fee of $25 (approximately 1600 INR) and wait for the officials to print the visa on your passport (about 30 minutes). Collect your passport and start exploring !
