-The best secret viewpoint in Lisbon is the tranquil miradouro de Monte Agudo. It offers amazing panoramic views of the north and entire western part of the city with a more relaxed atmosphere. -Go treasure hunting at Feira da Ladra, Lisbon’s most famous flea market. Every Tuesday and Saturday, from 9am to 6 pm, here you will find hundreds of stalls selling literally anything.

DAY 3: LISBON INSIDE OUT!

Just a day for Lisbon? Nah, not enough! Today, go ahead and make sure to explore this city inside out. Make your friends jealous by spamming their insta feed as you hit every nook of this city. By evening, head back to the hostel, grab a drink and spend a chilled out evening with your new friends and other hostel mates.

SUGGESTIONS:

-If street art is something that interests you, then Lisbon is the place to be. In the Mouraria neighborhood, you can find beautiful art dedicated to Fado, which was born in this are of the city. Then head to Alcantara and visit the LX Factory, a social hub for artists full of artwork.  Bairro Alto and Alfama also have some of the best street arts hidden in alleys and pathways.

-You may also take a river cruise in the Tagus River. There are different cruise options starting from basic cruise to going up to fancy ones with music and champagne. Make your pick!

-Lisbon has lots of ‘Miradouro’ or viewpoints to provide you a stunning view of the city. You may visit Portas do Sol, Miradouro de Graca or Santa Justa for some spectacular views of the city.

Cacilhas is another place you could head to. Cacilhas is a picturesque district where you will breathe an authentic Lisbon feel. Try one of the many good seafood restaurants or climb the Cristo Rei, Rio look-alike, statue, to have a great view of the San Francisco’s Golden Gate look-alike bridge.

DAY 4: FROM LISBOA TO OPORTO!

After a lazy morning brunch, shoot a long lasting gaze to Lisbon as you prepare yourself to catch a bus from Lisbon to Porto.

NOTE: The Check Out time for your hostel is 11:00 AM. However, you may store your bags at the hostel after Check Out and spend your day at your fancy in Lisbon before you start your journey for Porto.

SUGGESTIONS:

-If you want to gain some more insight into Portuguese life, why not have a look around a local market. Mercado da Ribeira is the biggest Lisbon and offers plenty of different foods to try as well as wine and cheese.

-For a completely unique experience, visit Lisbon´s iconic Pink Street. Refurbished a few years ago, it was once a Red Light District, but now is a beautiful place to city and explore the surrounding area. The ground has been repainted in a bright shade of pink and is a must – even if it´s just for Instagram.

-If you wish to spend a peaceful day, you may visit Jardim do Príncipe Real gardens. The gardens are a nice way to have a relaxing time and explore some of nature. You may want to bring food and have a picnic, take some time to chill out reading a book, listen to some music, or just sit and take it all in.

-You may also visit neighbourhood Baixa. This neighborhood is the best one to explore around during the day. It has some amazing plazas and lots of shops, restaurants, cafes, and some outstanding hotels! Rossio square (in case you couldn’t cover it before) is located in this neighborhood and you would not want to miss out on a chance to capture a picture in this beautiful place with some exceptional pavement designs.

-Take a cruise on Moliceiros on canals of Aveiro. Best part? It’s budget friendly unlike Venice and can be booked on spot.

-You love desserts? Then try Ovos Moles! It’s a local sweet. The Ovos Moles de Aveiro pastry shop is undoubtedly among the best spots to buy them.

-Visit Forum Aveiro: It is right by the canal and is lined up with rooftop cafes, galleries, bridges and is a good place for shopping.

As sun goes down, get ready for some epic night scenes.

If you want to go touristy and do some monument hopping, here are few options which you may consider visiting:

Arco Da Vila: It’s a waterside gateway which goes all the way back to Moorish times, and as you pass through the gateway that 1,000-year-old stonework is still visible.

-Cidade Velha: This is the entrance to Faro’s Old Town and is much quieter, with calçada portuguesa, whitewashed houses roofed with terracotta tiles, and sequestered little squares where you might discover solitary restaurants.

Agreja do Carmo is another Church which is considered as one of the most iconic landmarks of Faro with hallmarks of Portuguese baroque architecture, and the best sculptors in the region were recruited to craft its gilded woodwork and Chapel which has displays bones of monks.

Museu Marítimo Almirante Ramalho Ortigão : This is a marine museum which archaeological discoveries, and shelves and display cases packed with authentic navigation instruments and model ships along with marine species off these shores, like tuna, squid and sardines.

-There are a few hidden beaches in and around Faro. Praia de Faro is one of such beaches which you may visit. Since this one is a hidden one, you may face public transportation issues. It is around 10 kms away from the main city.

-For shopping, you may head to Forum Algarve. It has all of the shops you’d encounter on an Iberian shopping street, so expect brands like Zara, Bershka, fnac, Oysho and Pull & Bear that are all creeping across Europe at the moment.

Reach there, and make your pick as this town has a lot to offer! Beaches, castles, cobblestone Old Town, wineries and dolphin watching boat rides, Albufeira will not disappoint you. When you’re about to exhaust your energy reserve, hop on to your train back to Faro.

Your hostel is around 1 km (walking distance) away from the train station. It would be a good idea to stretch your legs and walk till hostel after sitting in the train for almost 2 hours.

Suggestions:

-Head to Ponta da Piedade. These are absolutely picturesque sandstone cliffs with towers and lighthouses along with turquoise water below. Definitely worth a visit, but accessible by foot only.

-The cliffs have underlying caves too. The best way to explore the caves is to take a boat tour of Ponta da Piedade.

-Lagos has its own share of beaches from the massive the Meia Praia, to the surfing waves of Porto de Mós and the beautiful Praia da Dona Ana. In case you’re a beach bum, you’ll gonna have a kickass time.

– Head to Igreja de Santo António  to delve into the history of the region, from the Neolithic period, through the Luso-Iberians, Romans and Moors to the Age of Discovery.

-In case you wish to take a cruise or wish to take a boat ride, you may head to Lagos Marina. This serves as a starting point of water activities, boat rides and cruises.

DAY 11-12: LAGOS EXPLORATION DAY!

Wake up and use these days for Lagos exploration. Ditch the map and explore and the hidden alleys of the city or head to explore nearby towns/villages. Boat trips, winery tours and wind surfing sound like a good idea if wish to stay in the city or take a day trip to Sagres or Silves.

SUGGESTIONS:

-Lagos is a good place to try your hand on wind surfing. Great coastline and windy shores make it an ideal place. You may visit Praia da Luz for wind surfing.

-There are jeep safaries which take you to the countryside and mountain villages of Monchique and Caldeirão.

-Lagos also has a Wax Museum which aims to preserve the memory of one of the most exciting historical periods. Get to know more about the historical background that has boosted Portuguese overseas expansion such as the Battle of Aljubarrota or the Treaty of Windsor, as well as its key moments such as the Discovery of the Maritime Path to India or the Discovery of Brazil, by visiting this museum.

Take a mini train ride: Lagos’ charming tourist train runs through the centre of the city and stops at beaches such as Camilo Beach or Dona Ana Beach. The beautiful route ends at the Lagos Marina.

-You may take a day trip to Silves which is around 1 hour away from Lagos. Local trains run between Lagos and Silves.

-You may also take a day trip to Sagres which is another beautiful location. It is not accessible by public transport though. You may book a local cab and visit Cabo de Sao Vicente in Sagres.

 

DAY 13: FROM LAGOS TO LISBON

Wake up late, have your brunch and shoot a last longing look to Lagos and its mystical cliffs & coastlines before you start your journey for Lisbon.

Train from Lagos to Lisbon:

-Your train is scheduled to depart at 13:26 hours from Lagos train station.

-Please reach the train station 30 minutes prior to the departure and keep your passport and e-tickets handy.

-You’ll reach Lisbon (Lisboa- Santa Apolonia) at 18:13 hours.

Note: Please note that this is not a direct train. You would require to change the train at Tunes and Lisboa Oriente as per the details mentioned on your ticket.

 

Lisbon will feel like a home now. As you reach Lisbon, head to your hostel for quick rest and recharge. Waste no time and head out to enjoy your last evening in Portugal.

Directions from Train Station to Hostel:

-Walk for about 2 minutes to reach Estação Sta. Apolónia.

-There are multiple buses which go in the direction of your hostel. You may take Bus No 712 or 735.

-In case you take Bus No 712, get down at R. Forno Tijolo and walk for a minute to reach the hostel.

-In case you take Bus No 735, get down at Sapadores and walk for 500 mts to reach the hostel.

 

As this is your last evening in Lisbon, treat yourself as you have a fancy dinner at Bairro do Avillez. This is one of the very good places in Lisbon which serves amazing food with a variety of drinks. (Google Map Location: https://goo.gl/maps/6n5nf9CtVX8g8ZB8A )

Don’t stay out till late as you have a morning flight to catch!

 

DAY 14: FLIGHTS TO INDIA

All good things come to an end, so is this Portugal Experience. Pack your bags and set forward to return to your home.

Airport Transfers:

The tickets for your airport transfers will be sent to you over whatsapp by iTripScout.

As your flight is scheduled to depart at 06:40 hrs, the tentative pick up time from the hostel will be between 02:45 AM to 03:15 AM.

  1. Assist traveller in self-travel by sharing maps to catch the local transports, walk, cafe crawls & one point contacts.
  2. Prior to the beginning of the travellers day, informing him the agenda as per the itinerary.
  3. Suggestions for recommended places to visit & stay.
  4. Any other necessary recommendation or update of the day as per the itinerary

*Response time: The response time for I Trip Scout shall be within 15 minutes.

Timings & Punctuality: Please ensure that you reach the bus boarding points at least 30 minutes prior to the time of departure. Do keep you e tickets and passport handy. Tripver will not be responsible for traveller missing their bus however in case any traveller does miss the bus due to unavoidable circumstances, I Trip Scout & team will be happy to rebook reschedule and take contingency methods instantly. The expenses for the same will have to be borne by the individual traveller via online payment link which will be sent instantly before rebooking the ticket.

NOTE: Please do note that these routes are suggestive routes and may differ according to local laws of land, government holidays and regulations. Please check the routes once before departure to avoid any unnecessary hassles.
