Hey there!

Thanks for choosing TRIPVER Travel Community, and welcome to the family 😉

Hope you are geared up for the fun-filled trip to Kasol, Himachal Pradesh. ”Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations” finds its true meaning here as it takes close to about 15hrs to get to this pristine hamlet.

Kasol is a village in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh and is situated in Parvati Valley, on the banks of the Parvati River. Kasol is approximately 30kms from Bhuntar beyond which lies narrow roads leading towards Manikaran. It’s probably because of  Kasol being a backpackers haven that one can find a lot of unique cafes to be tried out. Foodservice here though takes its own sweet time since most people are here to relax. You will also find the town to be influenced by Israeli culture.

Although considered to be generally safe, it’s advisable not to be roaming alone outside hotel/campsite premises, post sunset. Please make sure you take care of your own self and your belongings safe at all times.

In order to make your trip to Kasol as enjoyable as possible, we would recommend you to carry the following:

  • Items of personal use
  • Shawl/Jacket for Bus Journey
  • Warm Caps, Sunglasses, Sunscreen
  • Personal Medical Kit & Prescribed medicines if you are on medication
  • Hard Cash (subjective) as ATM’s usually are not functional in Kasol
  • Head Phones/Earphones
  • Eye mask & Earplugs
  • Portable Speakers & chargers
  • Umbrella or a Rain Poncho (Poncho recommended for trek)
  • Torch
  • Book to read
  • Board Games/Playing Cards/UNO
  • Trekking shoes(recommended for trek) or Shoes with good grip.
  • Winter clothing such as thermals, woollens and jacket. Weather is unpredictable in the hills, and nights can get unusually cold, hence it’s always best to be prepared.
  • Comfortable lower for the trek (jeans not advisable)
  • Rucksack and an additional small backpack (preferably with cushioning)  for the trek

The vistas from an altitude of about 3000mts above sea level will leave you spellbound especially if you’re lucky enough to have a clear sky to witness a star-studded night and a splendid sunrise. Do try manikaran hot springs. All your fatigue will disappear, and a sense of calm and accomplishment will prevail by the time you come out of the natural hot water sulphur springs. Only those who have an allergy to sulphur must avoid, for others, it’s highly recommended to take dip in for about 5-7mins at a stretch, as it’s likely to make you dizzy if you stay in any longer in one go.

Chalal & Katagla are essentially 3-4kms (each way) from Kasol. The trek to Chalal is alongside the Parvati river and starts from Kasol itself and Katagla is further ahead. I Trip scout will be happy to recommend you these places over WhatsApp

Lastly, we are a plastic neutral community and expect our travellers to support us in this case, refrain from littering, and keeping our hills clean.

Looking forward!

Happy Tripping!
