Hi Backpacker,

Kindly read the below pointer carefully as its related to your trip plan of action and safety:

-WHAT TO DO ON ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT: Once you reach the Leh Airport please head out to the exit gate. A local driver will be waiting for you with your name on the Plac Card & will take you to the hotel directly. Your room is already allocated and blocked. Mr. Lobzang is Tripver community certified one point contact & can be contacted for any query that you may have once you reach the hotel. You will have your briefing in the evening at the designated time as mentioned by Mr. Lobzang at time of arrival. The dining area is centrally heated. Sit there, have a chit-chat, talk about life and experiences with your other co-travellers who have come from all across India like you for this trek. Few of them are ex-travellers too. You will be staying with them for next few days and doing this trek as a team.

-LEH ONE POINT CONTACT: Lobzang is your one point contact in Leh. You may contact him on +91-9419216587 & +91- 9718066771

-LOW TEMPERATURE IN LEH AND ITS EFFECTS:  Please note that the temperature in Leh currently is below -15 degree. Do have a good LOOOOOONG warm shower before you leave your respective cities. Water in Leh usually freezes in taps/pipes during cold nights and mostly is available during daytime when its sunny. Hot water is LUXURY. You may realized after your “morning ritual” that the flush water is frozen. It is the way it is due to temperature. Simply put water in the WC/Pot from the bucket for the other person to use it later.

-MUTUAL RESPECT AND CULTURE: Please be aware that the local people of Leh are extremely sensitive towards how travellers treat them. Therefore ensure that you treat them with respect. Be polite and courteous. If you give respect to them you shall get plenty in return.

-PACKING: You all have received the essentials to carry list. Please do follow it. Carry light but warm clothes & wearing good quality gumboots. You will face challenges mentally & physically as you will be exposing your mind and body to extreme climatic conditions. The trek will test you mentally and physically to its own extremities.

-LUGGAGE STORAGE: In case you are coming a day early or leaving a day later, please ensure that you keep your luggage back in the hotel after speaking with Mr. Lobzang. Carry only adequate and necessary items during the trek. At all times keep your luggage locked and its safety is solely your responsibility.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: Its good to get a travel insurance done, for worst case scenarios. You may easily do the same online if you feel its necessary.

-PERSONAL MEDICAL KIT: Though the trek leader will be having a medical kit for an emergency, it’s recommended to carry a personal medical kit. Carry Diamox (altitude sickness drug) if you aren’t allergic to sulfur drugs (helps reduce some of the symptoms of AMS) else carry sniffing camphor tablets as it helps in AMS. Medicines for a headache, fever, stomach ache, cold and cough syrup may be required by you too.

-SHOPPING IN LEH: Due to the extreme weather shopping in Leh can turn out to be very difficult. Kindly ensure that you are fully equipped and carry all necessary items before boarding the flight. Its strongly advised by us to take full rest during the first day as it’s kept especially for acclimatization. We highly recommend not to drain energy shopping and buying things at the last minute. Everything for the trek is available either online or in adventure shop stores.

-BONFIRE: Bon Fire as mentioned in the itinerary will take place, depending on the climatic conditions. In case the weather is too windy which, is predicted, it may not take place. We recommend you to instead be inside in the central heated dining area. Do not spend the first day partying or exerting yourself in any way and take complete rest. Treat your body with utmost respect physically and mentally both.
