Welcome you to Tripver Community !
Three of the five highest motorable passes in the world, with a region touching two borders, the second highest saltwater lake in the world, the second coldest inhabited place in the world, three different terrains, three distinct cultures and five mountain ranges we welcome you on board to Leh !
We really want you to have a good time so do read the instructions given below carefully. Don’t consider the trip as a fashion trip. This trip is of extreme adventure. Do travel with what you need and what is required. Do not carry unnecessary clothes and stuff which looks good in pictures but are not useful. That will just make your trip miserable and slow.
Apart from essentials to carry we have come up with the list of things that are MUST READ before you begin the biking trip
1. Motorcycle Luggage & Gear: With the rented bike each traveller will get a helmet. You are recommended to have atleast 04 Bungee Cords and 02 Jerry Cans of approximately 05 lts to be placed on each side of the bike. The bungee cords are extremely easy and helpful to tie your luggage on the carrier. We will refuel the bike as well as Jerry Cans in Manali as the next fueling station is in Leh and there is no fuel station in Jispa/Sarchu. Do carry a mask to cover your nose and mouth from dust. That will be useful.
Optional: We prefer to wear an armored jacket, riding gloves, knee guards, riding boots and a pair of sunglasses. Whatever shoes you wear just ensure they are of very good grip. Just in case you land up in snow at Khardung La it will just prevent your chances of slipping.
2.First Aid Kid: Though the trip captain will have a basic medical kit but it’s always recommended to have a personal medical kit. Refer to Essentials to Carry List.
3. Day to Day Expenses: Don’t rely on an ATM and do carry enough day to day cash.
4. Documents : Always carry your driving license. The motorcycle papers will be handed over to you and will be with you at all times.
5. Speed Limit: Stay within the prescribed speed limits to be on the safer side.
6. Stay Hydrated: Motorcycle travel has to ability to dehydrate you a lot as the wind wicks away all the moisture. Always stay hydrated and carry enough drinking water with you at all times. Always stretch your hands, legs, neck and hips during pit stops and at the end of your riding day. This will help you keep joint and muscle stiffness and injuries away.
7. Don’t over pack, pack light: When packing ensure to pick a bag which can be tied to the carrier. We recommend a rucksack bag and a small bag . A rucksack is definitely preferable. Make sure to carry as much disposable stuff you can which can be used & discarded. This will help you cut down on a lot of weight as you travel. Eg – instead of shampoo bottles, carry sachets; carry small soap bars, disposable toothbrushes which you can do away with on your ride back. Don’t unnecessarily carry a lot of changes of clothes, instead try & wash & reuse your clothes. Don’t fold your clothes – roll them, they take up less space that way. Essential medicines are a must.
8.Respect each other: Treat your fellow travellers and community members as you would like to be treated yourself: with respect. It’s common courtesy not to shout, swear or walk away. Most important of all, remember that when you are travelling with Tripver you will meet people who may look different or think differently from you. Please respect those differences.
9. Stay in a Herd(MUST READ): Pleaes ensure you are on a bike trip in a formation. We need to be on a watch out for each other. Don’t overtake and ride in a formation. The trip captain briefing is extremely important and please ensure you follow instructions for a safe and easy ride.
OTHER POINTS TO NOTE:
-Let your engine run at idling on the first start of the day for about 5 minutes before taking it out on the highway. This will help your motorcycle engine function smoothly.
-Pack all your gear in trash bags and have a rain cover for yourself and your luggage. This will help you keep your stuff safe from rain, dust and dirt.
-Any lose or damage to the bike will be borne by an individual rider.
Riding away all the way to the top of the world. This is to the high no alcohol, no drug can ever give us. The highest of the highs!
HAPPY TRIPPING !
