As many of you are new to such advanced level treks such as EBC, it becomes mandatory to understand some basic key points as this trek is in no way a bed of roses. It is not like a usual vacation and its a Pro Level Trek. Hostels and tea houses are fun, inexpensive, and social that would be part of your accommodation through the trek. You get an opportunity to interact & meet like minded travellers from all across the world and your travel experience turns out to be super adventurous and fun at the same time. 🙂

Read carefully, make points and don’t take anything for granted because during this trek, you will be trekking in the most dynamic environment and will be living your life on the edge (quite literally!)  Do remember you’re on one of the most thrilling adventures, sharing space with other travellers from all across the world. To make this trek memorable for all trekkers we would like to you read and not miss out even on a single point:

ACCOMODATION

Tripver will provide you with safe and hygienic accomodation in a hostel at Kathmandu and in beautiful tea houses during the rest of the trek.

INCLUSION OF THE TREK PRICE:

-Domestic flights (Kathmandu- Lukla -Kathmandu)
-Domestic airport pick up and drop from Hostel to Domestic Airport
-Boarding and lodging during the trek.
-03 nights stay in Kathmandu Hostel & Tea house during the trek.
-All necessary paperwork and trekking permits (National Park Permit, TIMS).
-Medical kit (carried by your trek leader).
-Certified Mountaineers for the trek quipped with recuse operations.
-Equipment Rental: Sleeping bags and thick down jacket (Although we are providing you with the one, still we recommend you to carry your own sleeping bags and jackets for your comfort)
-MEALS:Tripver provides you with 20,000 NPR for your food expense so that you can choose your meals from the Open Menu). However please note the cost of the menu keeps increasing as you hit higher altitude.
-Breakfast on all days at Kathmandu hostel
-GST & other taxes included

EXCLUSION OF THE TREK PRICE:

-Any services not mentioned in the inclusions.
-Airfare/Bus/Train Travel expenses to reach and return from Kathmandu.
-Pick up and drop expenses to the hostel in Kathmandu from the airport. The prices ranges from INR 800 – INR 1000 one way.
-Additional accommodation and food expenses if trek gets delayed due to weather, flight cancellation, health or any other reason.
-Health Insurance, Personal Insurance and other travel insurance.
-Expenses for evacuation and rescue operations due to natural calamity, mishaps, injury or any health problem.
-Alcohol, soft drinks, beverages, etc.
-Personal expenses like tips, telephone calls, laundry, etc.
-Any costs arising out of unforeseen circumstances like landslides, road blocks, bad weather, etc.

FOOD OPTIONS DURING TREK:

We will provide you with 20000 NPR i.e INR 12500 approx for your food expenses during the trek. The prices of the menu will keep rising as you progress on higher altitude. We hope you understand that everyday as soon you reach a higher altitude, you will be disconnected from the facilities of a city & resturants. Therefore NPR 20000 is just enough to cover your 03 basic meals in a day. Trekkers have an option to choose from the open menu which comprises of veg as well very few non-veg options.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

1. FITNESS LEVEL & MEDICAL/FIT CERTIFICATE:
Tripver would require you to submit a Medical certificate by a certified doctor that you are fit to trek upto the height of 17600 ft above sea level.

There are few basic exercises that we recommend for a basic level of fitness that we suggest you to do before your trek begins.

1. Go for a run or hike to hills where you have to do ascents and descents.
2. Once a week, do a long walk.
3. Swim and cycle.
4. You can also go up and down the stairs of a tall building.
5. Eat healthy food.
6. If you do yoga, that helps too. Keep on doing. If you can, do more yoga related to breathing.

You can do well even when the preparations you do aren’t rigorous like that of some ultra-athletic person. Do these things in moderate pace for two months or even less. And you will be in a better position to complete the Everest Base Camp Trek enjoyably.

2. EMERGENCY PROCEDURES:

1. What steps will be followed for dealing with AMS symptoms?
-Climb the mountain gradually
-Stop for a day or two of rest for every 2,000 feet (600 meters) of climb above 8,000 feet (2,400 meters)
-Sleep at a lower altitude when possible
-Learn how to recognize early symptoms of mountain sickness
-Drink plenty of fluids
-Avoid alcohol
-Do not skip your meals, prefer carbohydrates rich meals.
-Avoid high altitudes if you have heart or lung disease.

3. MEDICAL INSURANCE:

-Can medical insurance be purchased? What will be its cost?
Yes medical insurance can be purchased. Everest Base Camp is a Level 4 trek and there is a specific insurance that you would have to buy for the trek. The cost of the online insurance is approximately INR 1500-2000 only. We will recommend you on various platforms of online insurance post the booking.

4. TREKKING PERMIT GUIDE & POTERS:

-What is the maximum weight a porter will carry & cost?
25 kg. Per day cost of the trekker is INR 1200-1500 per day. Prior intimation is required in case porter is required.

-What happens if a trekker does not take a porter from Lukla but realizes by Namche Bazaar that he requires a porter?
Trekker can get porter from there also, but power can charge any amount & is subject to availability (porters basic salary is 1200 per day)

5. EQUIPMENT RENTAL & PURCHASE:

-What will quality of the sleeping bag and down jacket be provided?
It will be of good quality but we recommend trekkers to carry their own sleeping bags to ensure a good and comfortable sleep. Sleeping bag is one of the most important essentials to carry item for the trek. In breif you would be required to carry . As far jackets are concerned, we will provide one down jacket. Apart from that, trekkers can bring their own jackets and also have option to rent jackets.

-A lot of trekkers do not have a backpack and don’t wish to buy one. Is it possible to arrange for renting out backpacks (60/70 liters)?
Can’t rent it but buying it is also going to be cheap (may cost 2000 INR onwards)

-What are the equipment that a trekker needs to have for the EBC Trek
One needs to ensure to have quality ankle height water proof mountaineering shoes & Sleeping bag of high quality. Trekkers to ensure you have enough warm clothes to carry. On making the reservation you will be receiving and essentials to carry list that will be a packing guide for the trek. In brief trekking Shoes, Backpack (60/70 Litres), trekking poles, woolen socks, gloves, raincoat, woolen cap, Trek T-shirts, Trek Pants, Inner Thermals, Day Bag (20/30 Litres)

-What will be the extra cost per day per trekker in case the group is stuck in Lukla?
We expect you to understand that weather is the mountains is unpredictable and can lead to sudden flight cancellations. In case of cancellation on cancellation due to Force Majeure

-Will one luggage room be provided for trekkers to keep extra luggage in Kathmandu? Can valuables like electronics be left there?
Yes, the hostel will have the option of storing your luggage however ensure that you have a lock for the baggage. The trekker will be responsible for the safety of their respective luggage.

-How much will 1 extra night cost (both for stay and breakfast) for trekkers arriving early or departing late?
INR 2000 per person per day
